I find the following a very valid question:

    WHY?

I mean, I am all for blowing stuff up and rockets, but why crayon? Is there at least a colored explosion? did he get paid by the manufacturer? To many questions

  • jeffs

it was probably for the rocket contest held every year for unusual rockets class

  • Charles

It is shopped, you can tell by looking at the pixels.

  • thejman

Lol … Funny how there are so many people that like to jump to the conclusion that all the “not-seen-everyday” photos are photoshopped. I bet they don’t even know how to use Photoshop. Crayola rockets … definitely very possible. Three-headed walrus … not so possible. And photoshopped or not …. it’s still a cool picture. And if ya don’t think so ya might as well just hit the back button on your browser.

  • Heinrich D. Bag

Obvious photoshop. Look at the pixels!

  • Susie

    Your mom is photoshopped.

  • Nehmo

If you state something is “shopped”, then you should offer some evidence, like, “if you enlarge the flames you will see the division between overplayed photos”. Experts have several methods to detect altered photos, but they are all explainable to non-experts.
Simply stating “shopped” without elaboration is like saying “lier” without elaboration. The statement doesn’t have much weight.

In this case, John Coker, the maker of the rockets, seems to have not been paid by Crayola. He did it for artistic value. He didn’t actually say that; I surmised it from the explanation he provided: “Why not?”

Lier-a person or thing that lies, as in wait or in ambush.

    Shopped.

  • Dave

Out of all the home-made rocket sets that are on the market right now, is it really that hard to believe that some guy felt like painting a few like crayons?

  • Chuck

John Coker is a maniac in the rocketry world. Another great Black Rock launch. Was this the BALLS launch? or a Rocket Maverick launch?

  • Randy

photoshopping crayola rockets would be a more worthless endeavor than actually making them would be.

    you think you exist

  • Xochi

Saying something is “shopped” is so freaking old and not even close to funny anymore. Get a new joke.

  • Phil E. Drifter

    Did he died?

  • A rocketeer

These are quite real, I myself have a yellow crayon. All you need is a crayon bank, some epoxy and some 1/4 plywood. Add 1 pound of nose weight and a 5 pound crayon will fly to about 2000 feet on an Aerotech H148-M Redline motor. Try it if you have high power certification.

  • Lou

Well I think they are pretty cool – as for shopped these people are simply jealous that they couldnt produce Crayola rockets.

Besides shopped or not the artist value and the point is there

Will anyone ever be able to simply enjoy a cool photo anymore?

  • jake

Agreed that the “shopped” joke is incredibly old and annoying, whats still absolutely hilarious though is the idiots who don’t know it’s a joke. Obvious trolls are obvious. I can tell by the pixels.

  • dom

omg thats so awsome if only the crayons did that when i was a child. collouring time would have been so much more fun

  • captain obvious

Obviously Shopped in Obvious ways. Motion blur totally Vascular.

  • ttalley

You are all tools. “Shopped”… “No, it’s not it’s not shopped”. “You’re an idiot”… “No, you’re an idiot”. I’ve seen this S#!t last 3 years before. Get a life and enjoy the pictures for once.
